Same Story, Different Chapter: Miller Will Meet Blue Ridge for a Final 4 Bid

2/28/12 - After a quick turnaround from the VIC tournament, Miller was given the #5 seed and was matched up with Pope John Paul the Great, a team that earned their first state tournament bid in the history of the school with a good record in a tough schedule. It was our last home game of the year, and we could tell with our guys that they were focused on the goal of winning a state championship, one game at a time.

The coaching staff told the players at the beginning of the game that we are all 0-0. This is the new season. Go 4-0 and the title is ours. We took a big step tonight to go 1-0 with a convincing win over PJPG, 87-71. Andrew White led all scorers with 26, with him sitting out the last 10 minutes of the game. Markell Lodge also displayed a great offensive performance, getting 13 points and 6 rebounds. It was great to go 9-1 in Alumni Gym this year and finish on such a high note on our home floor!

But now and for the rest of the state tournament, we are on the road. Next stop: Blue Ridge. Round 4. Deja vu from last year. The winner goes on to the Final 4 down at Virginia State!

After two years, seven straight losses, and three this year with a total margin of six points to our rival Blue Ridge, your Mavericks are excited for the opportunity for redemption. Come up to Blue Ridge on Wednesday at 7 pm and cheer them on!! Like the last three games this season, it will most surely be a battle of two great teams.

Thanks for all your support! 1 down, 3 to go...
